Names for the nameless

Hey there!

I appreciate that all the new characters are getting names, so i thought about giving our old group names as well. I like such things because it adds much more personality to the character.
Simply sounds better to say : "Charlotte looks super hot" than to say: "the cow looks super hot."

So, now to not snatch away the privilege of our fellow creators to name their childs i would like to ask odes and dogson if they want to name them or should we, the community, throw some suggestions out and vote on the most interesting ones?

If your not interestet at all that would be ok too.

    Hello!

Yeah, we weren't sure about naming the characters at first, but the more we thought about it, the more we realized it was the right way to go. It really does give them another dimension. Plus it felt a bit unfair that some characters had names, and others not (Khana and Elaine have names).

Right now, the only already released character we've thought a name of is Dragoness, and we were thinking of calling her something like "Elindír". ("Lind" is a word for serpent in the germanic languages, so it felt fitting. But it's not carved in stone.)

We would like to name the other characters too, but haven't had time to do so yet.

So are suggestions welcome? Of course! We'd love to see what names you'd come up with, and maybe it would even save us some time. :)

    Hey Temeraire.

Sure, go ahead and brainstorm ideas for names

We decided that, beginning from the male dragon that we want to give them a little bit more of a personality with names we come up with. It also has a slight practical usage since we suspect as we develop along, more characters of the same species will appear

"Fox 10" "Bunny 4" and so on isn't really as fun and inspiring. "Todd" and "Zoë" is much more fun

Instead of having pre-defined names, why not let the player choose an alias? Then you could keep the species and gender as the base-name. (e.x. the right side character menu would display "Charlotte (cow_female)"). This would help with identifying different versions in the same interaction as well instead of just having a wall of dragoness/bunny or "name".

An alias system could also allow for preset characters with specific skins and sliders to save time on using the same idea in different scenarios.

    Just my 2c

The wolf looks like a Zek to me, and Bob the Rhino would be fun.

Always felt the Giraffe's name was Jolene. Phonetically.

I like Bob for the Rhino.
Naming the horse Bojack is asking for a lawsuit to happen.

@Horsie I think Bojack could fall in to fair use of "Parody" that and that our horse doesn't resemble him one bit except for maybe the long face.

Not that we'll go with that name anyways, but If we really wanted to tap dance on the thin line to legislate hell, we would make two characters named Mickey Muff and Donald Dick who caries a strange resemblance to two hugely popular characters that belongs to a very very rich and powerful company :P

    Bunny: Adrianne

    Cow: Yvette

    -------
    Horse: Adam

    Rhino: Brandon

@hornystallion81 Elaine is already her name hehe

Elindir for the Dragoness and Mai for the cat seem to fit the characters very well, Caesar for the wolf and Charlotte for the cow are pretty good as well but I do have a couple of alternate suggestion. My suggestions for the other characters are:

    Girls:
Hyena: Aella which was the name of an Amazon warrior who was defeated by Herakles known for using a double-axe.
Giraffe: Rhea no particular reason, just like the name.
Bunny: Bauvais named after Garcelle Bauvais who did a spread for Playboy magazine (hence the connection to bunnies) also, character wise, she seems (to me) to come off as far more flirty and confident than the others, so it makes sense to me to name her after a Playmate.
Cow: Daisy or Mabel because cow.

    Boys:
Horse: Stellios or Joe, Stellios for obvious reasons but I think I personally prefer Joe because the character seems far more down to earth.
Rhino: Kind of like the name Randy not just for the obvious alliterative reason but also for the other obvious lascivious reason. Although maybe something tougher like Rocco or Wilder, might suit him better.
Fox: Caspian relatively regal name for a character who comes off as superior and sly, fit for a role in a corrupt monarchy or as a treacherous advisor (or at least he comes off that way to me, possibly too much exposure to effeminate Disney villains).
Wolf: Fenn after the Norse mythological wolf creature Fenrir who was foretold to devour Odin in the battle of Ragnarok. Alternatively (coming from the Caesar suggestion) what about Romulus or Remus the founders of Rome who were raised by wolves?
Border Collie: Jeb classic country boy name.
Dragon: Fafnir, back to Norse Mythology, he was a Dwarf who was tricked by Loki into taking the cursed gold of Andvari and the ring Andvaranaut, causing him to turn into a dragon. There's more to the tale but that's the cliff notes.

If you ever create a hedgehog character it's obviously going to have to be called Ron after famous Porn actor "The Hedgehog" Ron Jeremy.
Are there any other characters I've forgotten? Are the squirrel femboy and the tall slender female hare still in production?
  • edited 12:41AM
I'd throw my "vote" at HornyPig's suggestion. Most of them are pretty fitting. Though I will say going with Bojack for the horse is probably the only way to achieve true enlightenment.
  • edited 12:41AM
Oh, I remember coming up with names for the female characters, way back when the game first released, and we only had the Bunny, the Horse and the Giraffe to play with!
I even saved them in a text file, or else I'd end up forgetting everything.
So, for the Giraffe I came up with Sabrina or Lisa (Elisa?), either one sounds nice. Dunno, her face sort of clicked with those names, IMO. She seems quite chill and focused (but still expressive), as if she could pull off some weird-ass yoga pose while a dude's plowing her. :D
The Bunny could be called Chell/Chelly (from Michelly), or even Tania. She's sort of milf-ey, ain't she? Not necessary to imply she's "fat" in the name, but actually just voluptuous, big where it counts. Nadja/Nadia, Becky (from Rebecca) or Betty/Beth might work, too!
Then we have Elaine and Khana, both already named and quite fitting indeed.
You guys already suggested a pretty good name for the dragoness, Elindír. I'd go with that!
The Cat is puzzling, tho. I might be wrong, but I can see japanese and old n' fancy european style mixed in her, y'know? Something to do with the hair, mostly. Body and face are definitely japanese, heh. (Which's absolutely cute, she reminds me a lot of Dr. Comet's catgirls. Always a favorite!)
Mmm, now for her, how about Callista? Amaya/Amellia? Sylvia...   ...Minako?   :*

As for the males, I never really thought about naming them, up until now...
How does Clark sounds for the Rhino? Or maybe Rufus/Russel, or just anything that sounds beefy, really!
The Horse could easily be called Alex, but he has such a flamboyant mane...    what about Sebastian or Cassius? Fancy, eh? He needs that, I'd say.
The Fox could use something that sounds more like a nickname than a proper name. Something like Nicky, Jimmy, Kenny, Ricky, Bobby, etc, it might fit him because he seems like some sort of experienced male/femboy stripper.
For the Wolf...  I called him "Trevor" once because there was this time I got him to make a very stronk facial expression that really reminded me of one of the main characters from another game, so, yeaaah...  :s
I think he's supposed to be kind of feral, with a lot of teeth/fangs n' tongue showing up during whatever he's doing. I dig that!
Zakk, Dean, Raoul, Audric/Ulric, Harvey, Rolph/Ralph...   those are my suggestions.
But anything that ends up not being used for the Rhino might just fit him, since both are muscular.

@HornyPig Haha, Randy the Rhino, I love it. Bob is also good on him
  • edited 12:41AM
I really like the idea of cat's name being something ''japanese'' so here are my suggestions:
    Akane
    Chika
    Kasumi
    Mayumi
    Hana
And also the ones Waves suggested: Neka, Nekasumi, Māo, or Māi.
    Neko is fine too.

    Other suggestions for names:
    Wolf - Zeke, Ajax, Erebus.
    Horse - Helios, Icarus.
    Rhino - Randy, Bob.
Giraffe - Lena, Lana, Luna, Maia / Maya.

Loving Maya for Giraffe. Seems so fitting! It's exotic, just like she is.
  • edited 12:41AM
I like Adam for the horse and Brandon for the Rhino. Finn is a great name for the Border Collie (just now I saw the Dirty Dogsons Debauchery tumblr). Xandra for the dragoness and Misty for the Giraffe is alright... and I did not know that Elaine wasn't already a name (its a fairly common name where I live) and I really liked it already. Yvette suits the cow pretty well.

That being said, I think that the fox just has a Jesse feel to him, and I really like Amanda for the cat lady. Jessica for the rabbit girl (Roger Rabbit reference much?) and Jack for the wolf guy are also fine to my ears.

I think foreign names that are hard to write/read are unnecessary... annnnd I can't totally aproove of japanese names for characters that don't look exactly asian. I also think that anthros who have names similar to their species are a tad cheesy.

    Just my opinion.

And from left field again … Gladys for the bunny. I once knew a Gladys, we nicknamed her 'Happy Bottom'. So Happy Bottom ie Gladys.
  • edited 12:41AM
    Looks like it´s rolling.

From what I saw Bob the Rhino is top-notch. I would also agree with Maya for the Giraffe and Xandra for Dragoness.I really love the name Mei for the Cat, but if we say we let the asian fraction out, why not turn her into a Mia?

    let´s see...

I really like Gabriel, but not for the Fox. In my opinion this would be great for the Horse since he is the fancy man in the pack. Sure Adam sounds nice too.

Nicky the Fox is indeed brilliant, also because of a slight reference to Zootopias
    Nick Wild.

Now Wolf and Bunny, why are you so hard to name...

I thought of Lola for the Bunny, then i realized that I've heard this before...yeah of course. Becky sounds fair for me though.
worsel said: The wolf looks like a Zek to me
Yup I think that´s good, but change it into a Zack and I´m in, or how about Vincent or just "Vince" as an alternative.

I think the Rhino should be a Bob. I'll get to the rest later.

Since I guess I'm necroposting today, have some ideas for "names for the nameless":

Bunny: Clover, Marisa, Bonnie, Sage, Isobel, Piper, Hattie
I feel like herb names work well for bunnies. She also has a curiously "Western" (think 'old west') or even Hispanic look to me, so a name like that works in my mind.

Cat: Momo, Aya, Tama, Mei, Kana, Hana, Shiro, Sora, Sara
Lil' miss kitty has an Asian look to me, because of her hair and some of her alt skins. Many of these are popular names for pet cats in Japan, but aren't out of place as names (or nicknames) for young girls.

Horse: Jamie, Anthony, Jackson, Jayden, Aaron, Joshua, Benji, Brandon
So for the horse-boy, I feel like he looks young and athletic, but his face and facial expressions don't give me the impression of someone overly confident or self-assured. Names with a boyish appeal work best I think.

Wolf: Mickey, Michael, Griffith, Nick, Jake, Kevin, Ross, Derek
I view the wolf as the second most masculine character after Bob, and I think he needs a mature-sounding name. I pulled all these names from NFL players.

Fox: So I see three ways you could go naming the fantastic Mr. Fox:
Cute male names: Curtis, Taylor, Timothy, Landon, Noah
Androgynous names: Ashley, Tracy, Morgan, Addison, Chris, Leslie
Contrasting male names: Richard, Roger, Thomas, Donald

I ordered them in order of most to least favorite. :)
