Can't click joints

Why are some of the joints a darker colour? I can't interact with them at all. I just don't understand what this means / what I have to do!

Some nodes on the characters aren't ones that you can directly control, such as a character's hips. These nodes are mostly just influenced by other parts that you can control, such as the knees or feet in relation to the hips. You can still parent other things to the darker nodes/joints as well.
