I'm trying to create a mask utilizing the shading detail texture as a guide, but I am at a loss on how to generate this for blender. Any advice?

In Blender, go into edit mode of the exported mesh, select all, then press P > "Separate by material". Then you can paint on each individual piece.
Go to the texture paint tab and create a new texture. Also assign this texture in the shader. Then you can simply paint on it in 2D or 3D.
